South African National Circus
The South African National Circus, also known as the Zip Zap Circus, is located in the Observatory area of Cape Town. It was home to some of the best circus performers in South Africa. The circus provided great shows day in and day out, filled with action packed flips, fire ring dives, tightrope walking, and much more. Although the circus is now abandoned, it used to be a common venue for children's birthday parties- in fact, I had one there, and it was fantastic! They let you run the obstacle course, ride the foofy slide (zipline), and they even set up a tire race for the kids.
Sadly, the circus is no longer in existence, but the tent remains. Although a sad prospect, it is still a source of great memories for kids around the neighborhood, and the big tent remains a landmark in Observatory.
