Original Coastline and the Foreshore
The foreshore is an area of land in downtown Cape Town that was reclaimed from Table Bay during the 1930's and 1940's. Originally, the shoreline of Cape Town came up to the Castle of Good Hope , but by filling part of the bay, the shoreline was moved towards the bay to create an area that includes some buildings of great importance to Cape Town's Infrastructure. Some notable buildings in the area include Artscape, CTICC and the Cape Town Civic Centre.
