The Fugard Theatre

Named after South Africa’s most famous playwright, Athol Fugard, this enchanting little theatre holds a very important place in many people’s hearts. It stands in Cape Town’s District Six, and part of the building was originally a church hall. The theatre seats only 280 people, so every performance has a wonderful intimate feel.

In addition to the stunning architecture, what sets the Fugard apart from other small theatres,  is the state of the art equipment which turns the beautiful space into a bioscope. From world opera and ballet to much-loved classics, it is the ideal place to experience something magically different. And, the thing that I love the most about The Fugard, is that they’ve chosen to do Richard O’Brien’s, The Rocky Horror Show as their 2013 winter musical production!
