Cape Town Mapping Project

My name is Gina and my family is from Scotland and Italy. I am a 2nd generation Cape Townian from both my dad and mom’s side. My main interest is surfing, and my first and only language is English. My career goal is to work for Green Peace when I am done with school. A fun fact about me is that I love Nirvana.

My name is Jerome and I am 16 years old, and the first generation in my family from Cape Town. I have lived here all my life.  My dad is from South Africa, but my mom is from England. My hobbies are hiking and gliding. I am interested in Maths and Physics, and I would like to become either an engineer or a pilot. I speak English, and I study Afrikaans as a second language at school.

I was born in South Korea in 1995. Korean is my native language, and I can speak English a little bit. I'm interested in business, and my career goal is to become a businessman, but I have not decided to major in Business yet.  When I first came to Cape Town, I had lots of stress because I couldn’t speak English or understand what people said to me.   I still struggle with English now, however, I believe that I will speak English fluently someday- and, I study English very hard.

I've been here for two years, and I live with my guardian now. I hadn’t known them before I arrived.  I met my guardians at the Korean church. I used to live with my uncle's family, but my Uncle and Aunt have gone back to Korea. I visit my country every December during the holidays.

My Name is Juliet and I’m from South Africa. I’m a 6th generation Capetownian on my mom’s side, and 4th generation on my dad’s side.  My interests are brains, emotions and people.  I speak English and Afrikaans. My career goals are to be a journalist, photographer, historian, biologist or a geographer. Fun facts about me, I was born on Hitler’s birthday, and I have blond hair and blue eyes. I’m also one of five kids.

My name is Nicholas and I’m 17 years old.   I was born and raised here in Cape Town, South Africa and I’m a second generation Capetownian, but my family has been in South Africa for several generations. I speak English and Afrikaans. I have a huge passion for football and I want be a professional footballer.  A fun fact about me is that I’m a dual citizen of both America and South Africa!

I'm from Cape Town, and my family has been here for 7 generations. I have French and Scottish connections. English is my home language, and I can speak Afrikaans, and I have a basic foundation in Spanish. I'm interested in Football (Soccer), and Music, and I am open to all genres.  I also enjoy traveling and experiences with different cultures. In terms of career goals, I'm uncertain of what I want to do but, probably something to do with traveling. In 2012, I went on an exchange to Peru for 2 months.

My name is Keelan. I’m a Greek South African. I attend St. George's Grammar School and I enjoy playing soccer. I play piano and percussion, and I would like to be a soccer player or an architect.

My name is Ameerah. I am 17 years old and I have lived in Cape Town since I was born. My family comes from Malaysia, and I am the 5th generation. I have a passion for music and I play the electric and acoustic guitar. I love rock, grunge, and heavy metal music. My first language is English and my second is Afrikaans. I would like to study Astronomy and continue with my music in the future. Interesting facts about me are that I can do mentalism tricks, and Metallica is my favourite band.

I am a 17 year old, first generation, Capetonian. My parents both lived in Pretoria for most of their lives, but came to Cape Town in their late 30's. My home language is English, but I can also speak very limited Afrikaans (ek kan nie Afrikaans wel praat nie). In terms of a career, I have no plans yet, but would like to go into a field involving philosophy, creative writing, journalism or paramedics.  My interests include philosophy, writing, cards, chess, cricket, rugby, snooker, table tennis and strawberry yoghurt. I play the games Magic the Gathering and chess at a provincial level.

My name is Jaymee and I’m in grade 11 at St George’s Grammar School. SGGS is the 7th school I’ve been to since grade 1.  I was born in Cape Town, and then I moved to Johannesburg.  I lived there for 3 years, and then I moved to Durban and stayed there for 3 years, and now I’m back in Cape Town. My family has lived in Cape Town for 3 generations. I play classical guitar, and ride horses at the Oude Molen Stable.  My dream is to travel the world and I would like to study at UCT or Stellenbosch- but, I am not sure what I want to study yet.  An interesting fact about me is that I love Panda Bears, probably more than a normal person, and I’d love to see one in person.  I speak Afrikaans, and a bit of Hebrew and German, but my home language is English.

I was born here in Cape Town on 17 December 1995. I live in Bishopscourt, and I have a holiday house in Pringle Bay.

All four of my grandparents have passed away; therefore there are two generations still alive- my parents, and me, my brother, and sister. We are excited because my sister is pregnant, which will bring a new generation.

I enjoy traveling around the world-  I have been to China, New York, Amsterdam, Namibia and other places. I also like going to National Parks, and I have been to Kruger National Park, Mokala, Kgalagadi, Addo and others.

When I finish school I want to study hard to become a game ranger and a photographer.

My favourite things around the world are animals, and my favourites animals are:

·        Bird is a Kori Bustard

·        Fish is a Whale Shark
